About Us
IIT Roorkee, formerly the University of Roorkee and Thomason College of Civil Engineering, was established in 1847. It is the oldest technical institution in Asia. Converted into an IIT in 2001, it has played a vital role in providing technical manpower to the country. The institute celebrates over 177 years of existence.
